3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Description :

Don't miss one of the most popular tours in Morocco for travelers who want to visit the Moroccan Sahara Desert. This 3 day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga in the desert gives full insight into the life of the nomads and Berbers. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery across the Atlas Mountains and have the driver stop to take pictures of your travel experience for your holiday book. What could be more confusing than remembering your team has a Berber village in the mountains in the background? You will also visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and Kasbah Telouet. There is a Kasbah in the oasis of Skoura, Kasbah Amredhil, we will discover it. These kasbahs are some of the highlights of a desert trip from Marrakech, like nowhere else in the country.

Itinerary :

Day 1: Marrakech - Tizi N'Tichka – Dades Gorges

It's a morning departure at 8:30 am from your hotel or riad in Marrakech to embark on your adventure in the Marrakech desert. The journey begins by crossing the High Atlas mountains. After Tichka passes to the highest point, you go to the second road to the Kasbah of Telouet, which belongs to the leaders of the Atlas, the Glaoui family. Everything that has been added to the building is now rubble covered by wind and rain. The Kasbah was abandoned and looted when the last Pasha fled the country after the departure of the French in 1956. Wait for the beauty of the countryside to amaze you when you reach the highest point of the Kasbah, from here you drive through the beautiful valley of Ounila, which is full of roads, soapstone, and full soil, Berber. town and garden, as well as a small kasbah. Almost at the end of the road, you reach Ait Ben Haddou, where we stopped for a delicious lunch. It is the famous Kasbah of Morocco and one of the seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Morocco, which you can visit after lunch. The road passes Ouarzazate and continues to the oasis of Skoura, where there are olives, almonds, alfalfa, barley, and fruit trees such as apples, apricots, and figs. and pomegranate. Here, many old kasbahs, some sad and in ruins, stand among palm trees, and you will go to the famous kasbah, Kasbah Amredhil, which is pictured on the old 50 dirham note. It has been well restored, so it is beautiful and well worth a visit. From here, the route passes through Kela'a M'gouna, the Valley of Roses, with a stop to view the beauty of the region from the large roses in the valley. You stop in the Dades Valley at the guesthouse on site.

Day 2: Dades Gorges - Tinghir - Tinjdad - Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, you will go up the valley of Dades through a beautiful hairpin (see Cadillac youtube brake test) shortly before reaching the bay of Dadès. After stretching your legs walking the streets and enjoying the scenery on the other side, you will continue to Toudgha to the various caves there. Lunch will be here in the gorges or later in the bivouac in the dunes Erg Chebbi. You will go there through the valley of Ziz and the city of Erfoud, famous for the things that can be seen working in beautiful things, and Rissani, where the royal family started. In the afternoon, after having a welcome cup of tea, you can take a camel for half an hour in the Sahara. The sunset from the top of the dunes is spectacular (250m). You dine and spend the night in a luxury camp with private bathrooms, king-sized beds, luxurious Moroccan furniture, and well-designed lamps to ease your enjoyment of the beauty of the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - agdez - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

If you wake up early in the morning, you can see the show of the sunrise, when the color of the dunes and the play of shadows is a spectacular show. The drive back west into the Dra'a valley leads us to the Saghro mountains, one of the hottest places in the country with about 100mm of rain on the ground and 300mm in the mountains. We pass the villages of Tazzarine (featured in the movie "Babel") and N'Qob, where we have lunch overlooking the mountains. In the afternoon, we drive west to Tansikht on the banks of the Draa River. The Draa Valley is full of tall palm trees and ancient kasbahs, typical of this southern region. We follow the old road from the north of the Sahara to Agdez with the precious cargo from the Mail in Niger. The oldest Kasbah in the valley, Kasbah Tamnougalte, is near the top of the valley. Several watchtowers to ensure the safety of the camels and the men who accompany them are still visible on the hill on the banks of the river. Back on the north-south route, we cross the Tizi-n'Tinfifte pass, 1660m, to reach Ouarzazate. We end this unforgettable journey in the desert of Marrakech by continuing on the road in the High Atlas. We arrived in Marrakech at the end of the afternoon. The 3-day Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert will end when your driver takes you back to your riad!
